Coffee, coffee, coffee. Where would we be without you?
On the floor, slumped on our desks, still in bed. For those who are on the casual caffeine train, this past Thursday was a nod to the every day routine: Get up, coffee, commute, coffee, work, coffee, dinner, coffee, and then a rest period before starting it all over again. But all over the US, coffee shops, coffee connoisseurs, and coffee lovers celebrated National Coffee Day! The official day to raise a mug and thank a barista for sustaining our alertness.
Coffee has been a hot commodity lately, especially during Grand Rapids' annual ArtPrize festival which brings people from all over the nation out and about. Leaves and temperatures have also been slowly falling in Michigan, causing people to race to coffee shops to commence the "pumpkin everything" season. Good spirits, warm feelings, and tradition keep us attached to coffee in the upcoming months. Obviously, coffee isn't just seasonal. Copious amounts of cups are created through out the year, no matter how you drink it: Iced, black, sugar, cream, etc. This easily accessible drink has the power to re-energize and caffeinate otherwise sleepy souls, as well as integrate itself into our every day expectations. "Want to grab some coffee?" has become the single most greatest suggestion (neck-and-neck with "Want to brunch?"). This has propelled coffee shops to become a haven of socialization. A beehive of conversation, business meetings, and relationship building. This is why we celebrate and commemorate coffee with a national day all to itself.
On top of cheering to a great start to a new fall season and ArtPrize weeks, Anna's House gets another chance to acknowledge our wonderful local coffee partner, Ferris. Ferris has been honored this year by being crowned the Official Coffee of ArtPrize! With the introduction to their new Trust Building shop, Ferris has been all over downtown during ArtPrize's busy hours. Their coffee truck stays parked in order to replenish and refuel parched tourists and to warm up guests who have been wandering Grand Rapids in search for the next great ArtPrize piece.
Ferris has been a wonderful partner in supplying us with quality, local coffee that we serve every day. Our guests are eager for that first cup of coffee in their mismatched mugs and are rarely disappointed. Because honestly, what is better than a cup of hot coffee on the side of a warm breakfast or brunch? Whether your meal is sweet or savory, eaten in the morning or afternoon, coffee is always a wonderful option.
On National Coffee Day, we wanted to say thanks to the best coffee in Grand Rapids. We rallied up our wonderful teams to share a photo from the day.
Our Grandville team enjoyed a relaxing cup of coffee during a rainy Thursday morning. Contemplating important business things as well as stylish accessories. This team always has a wonderful time capturing the sweet moments in between the busy ones; the little moments when you are able to catch your breath, sigh, appreciate, and then resume life.
In Holland, Angelik was poised and ready for action with one of the largest mugs ever seen in our stores. Her arched coffee pour is one for the masters; imagine serving all of our coffee this way! Our Holland team is always finding wonderful ways to brighten days with wit and humor!
Our Plainfield team celebrated the best way they know how: with their guests! Mugs raised in a grand ol' hurrah for coffee over a fresh plate of breakfast. It would be quite difficult to not be this smiley after a hot cuppa joe and eggs! Especially while at the Plainfield location which is notorious for making lots of friends.
Okay technically this happened the day after National Coffee Day, but we couldn't help but think Danny Trejo's visit to our Beltline store wasn't a coincidence. We were very honored to have Mr. Trejo visit us and order the California Omelette before visiting our kitchen! Here he is cheesing with Connor and Cipi; what better way to celebrate National Coffee Day than with a surprise celebrity appearance!
All of our stores celebrated National Coffee Day differently, just as there are a myriad different ways to drink and enjoy coffee. Coffee and breakfast are an obvious pair, not just for their flavors and comfort, but for their ability to bring people together. Whether it is reuniting with an old friend, visiting family, or talking business strategies, we can all agree that sharing and connecting over food and a hot cup of joe is priceless.
Here's to you, Ferris, and to your delicious brew!
